One Day Only - August 16th at Noon.
This summer enjoy live theatre and hiking in a great combination as the Chicago based acting troupe, Theatre Hikes presents: "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm". Price is $25 per adult and $19 per child 4 - 12 years old. Three years and under are free but no lunch would be served. The ticket includes the theatre production, guided hike and a picnic lunch of chunky chicken salad or turkey & cheese sandwiches, broccoli salad, chips, fresh fruit, homemade cookies, and bottled water. Add a bottle of wine for $15. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is based on the American 1903 children's classic novel by Kate Douglas Wiggin, first produced on Broadway in 1909. Life on Sunnybrook Farm with her mother and six brothers and sisters may have been chaotic, but Rebecca loved every minute of it. Leaving them all behind and moving in with her two spinster aunts is almost more than Rebecca can bear. She's just not prepared for her rambunctious spirit to be tamed so that she can become the perfect little lady her dignified aunts want her to be. This is a charming play filled with delightful characters and situations. It has been the inspiration for many movie versions, the most popular being the 1938 film starring Shirley Temple. Led by a hike leader, the audience will hike the trails of White Pines, no more than two miles, stopping along the way to watch scenes from this funny and exciting production featuring 15 talented actors. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is a delightful play suitable for the entire family.Call White PInes Inn and make your reservations today 815 946-3817. |
