What if it rains? The Euro Tent is just a few steps away from the dressing rooms and will keep up to 275 people cozy and dry. Torrential rains and winds would likely mean a time delay. There is a circle drive used for loading and unloading guests right at the tent entrance. With a few umbrellas, you’re in business.
What if it is really hot? There are 2 ceremony sites that are shaded and the tent is always a choice.
How many people does the Canyon accommodate? Somewhere between 400-500, but remember the rain back up is only 275.
Will there be 2 ceremonies going on at the same time? No, each ceremony will be private. There is a 2 1/2 hour time period allowed between most ceremonies. A second bride may be arriving to have hair done or pictures started, but they would not be interrupting the other bride’s space since there are 2 separate bridal dressing room.
Can guests walk from the Wedding Canyon to the White Pines Inn for the reception? No. The driving distance is about a 1/2 mile.
Is a microphone needed and does the Canyon provide one? It is always nice to have one and definitely recommended for ceremonies larger than 125. The Canyon does not provide any, but the Pastor available through the Bridal Consultant provides both a sound system, microphone, and a large selection of music. These are included in the price of all their ceremonies. There are also several DJ’s who offer sound systems.
Is the Canyon handicap accessible? Yes. There is a circle drive for unloading and loading right in the Canyon. There are handicap accessible restrooms. Wheelchairs can access all ceremony sites.
Can we have a rehearsal in the Canyon? Yes. There is no charge, but there could be time restrictions due to another wedding. Rehearsals can actually take place anywhere because the ceremony itself will remain the same no matter where the location.
How soon can the bride arrive on her wedding day? No more than 3 hours prior to the start of the ceremony, without prior authorization.
Can we have our reception with food service in the Canyon? No, sorry no food service, but snacks and drinks can be brought in for bridal parties before the ceremony while they are getting ready in the dressing rooms.
Does the Canyon provide a white runner for the aisle? No and it is not recommended. With a breeze always being a possibility, the runner has a tendency to roll up and the bride or guests might trip.
Can we bring pop or alcohol into the Canyon? Yes.
Can we release butterflies? Anything natural like doves or butterflies are fine. Anything not natural, like balloons are not permitted.
Who can officiate a ceremony in the Canyon? Any pastor licensed in Illinois (except Catholic Priests, they will not marry outside the church) You can also have an Ogle County Judge officiate.
What do we need to get a marriage license? You must obtain an Ogle County License at least 24 hours prior but not more than 60 days in advance. You will both need a certified birth certificate. You do not need a blood test. Courthouse number 815 732-3201.
Do you still offer outdoor ceremonies at White Pines State Park? You may have an outdoor ceremony at White Pines anywhere and there is no charge, but no services are provided. The only requirement is that Park Rangers need to be notified in advance. Chairs and a trellis are available to rent through White Pines Inn, but set up and delivery are not included.
How far in advance should we be reserving the Canyon for a ceremony? It is recommended a year to a year and a half in advance to secure a certain date you might want. If you are flexible, six months to a year.
