White Pines - a stop on Oregon's Trail of Painted Tipis |
|
|
Welcome to Oregon's Trail of Painted Tipis!
Imagine a one of a kind experience unique to all of North America. You are setting out on a journey that will take you back 150 years to the time when the Rock river was home to Chief Blackhawk and his tribe of native American Sauk Indians.
Discover twenty three hand painted and individually designed Sioux tipis created by select local artists and residents, each demonstrating a personal connection to the native culture that flourished here. One of these authentic, life-sized tipis is located in the White Pines State Park near the restaurant and cabins. The tipi - named "Prancing in the Pines" was painted by one of the area's most well known artists, Jan Harvey.
A brochure with detailed maps showing the location of all 23 tipis is available at White Pines, Eagle's Nest Native American & Western Gift Shop in Oregon and Merlin's Floral & Gift Shop in Oregon. More information about the Trail and the artists is available at www.oregontraildays.org .
This unique and wonderful experience awaits. Invest a little time on this pleasant journey. You will come away with memories to last a lifetime.

Introducing White Pines LaBranche |
|
|
Introducing White Pines LaBranche - The all new multi room banquet facility for weddings up to 275 guests all in one spacious room. White Pines Inn has been bursting at the seams for years with no room for growth in the state park. "There just hasn't been enough room at the Inn for the ever expanding wedding business and the ability to host large events or multiple events on the same day", says owner Beth Henderson. All that has changed with the addition of a gorgeous 6,000 sq ft. Cedar Forest building, located just 7 miles west of the White Pines Inn and Wedding Canyon, in Polo, Illinois. The new facility will offer not just one more banquet and reception room, but two. Renovations are currently underway with a completion date planned for early spring of 2011. Current plans include an all new entrance designed with stone columns that will include an overhang for the loading and unloading of guests. New carpeting and dance floors and fountains are also in the plans. The bar area will be re-designed into a second banquet room and both banquet spaces will have their own granite and limestone bar areas."Lighting is really important to me and I believe a key element in the look we are trying to create", says Henderson. "We are not going for an over-the-top, outlandish facility, just a place that is beautiful, warm and inviting and can be used comfortably for all types of events including wedding receptions, ba nquets, reunions, proms, and more".
Events are already being planned and reserved for the 2011 season. If interested contact the event planners at White Pines Inn. The food and menus offered will be the same at both locations and are all available on the website at www.whitepinesinn.com under the drop down menus of either Restaurant Banquet Menus or Wedding Receptions Menu & Pricing . Reservations and inquiries will all be handled through the White Pines Inn phone number at 815 946-3817 or by emailing

Check out our newest endeavor, Christmas Trees! |
|
|
When we heard the sad news that
Sinnissippi Forest Tree Farm was going to retire, our wheels began to
turn! What if we filled their
shoes (or should we say their snow boots)? What if we made the Christmas Tree Forest within the White
Pines Forest? But, everybody knows
you can’t cut down the trees in the state parks! Thus, we are bringing in pre-cut Frasier Firs, Scotch Pines
and White Pines. Come walk among the forest of Firs and Pines, but don’t worry
about cutting one down! The trees
will be pre-cut, set up as a forest wonderland – waiting for you to find the
perfect one! Could it get any
better than that!?!?!
Yes it can! We will also be selling live
wreaths, and holiday décor in our gift shop. On weekends we will be welcoming Santa Claus and offering
horse drawn carriage rides. Enjoy a great breakfast, lunch or dinner in our
Lodge Restaurant, too! Can it get
any better than that!?!?!
Yes it can! Come stay in a cozy log cabin the night
before! We have a great package that
includes breakfast, a teddy bear for each child, a night in the cabin
and your live Christmas Tree! Just
give us a call at (815) 946-3817 to make your reservations! Trees will be for sale beginning the
Friday after Thanksgiving, November 26, 2010. Ho! Ho! Ho!
